Swimmer's block...

AntietamI don't know if you're all familiar with a web site called Twitter. It's like up-to-the-minute blogging --- what are you doing RIGHT NOW. So, at this very minute, I'm sitting at my computer trying to come up with a good reason why I don't have to go swim laps tonight. Hmmmm. Hmmmm. Hmmmm. Can't. Dang it. Here's a photo though.

What is my problem? My training is in trouble. I'm cool for the bike. I could make the run. But, I have no desire to get in the water. Jeez. Esther Williams may be making a return engagement for the Accenture Chicago, if I make it.

I know - I could clean my messy desk. Nice tupperware in the background there.

Hey, Ester Williams got the job done last year. She's a tough gal. Here's something that helped my swim training: get competitive. Find someone to swim with whose butt you want to kick. For me it was swimming in the open lap lane next to the age group swim club practice at the Y. I couldn't let those 10-year-olds beat me. ;-)

Is that a Curious George lunch box behind you??

I know, sometimes I feel the same way. "I just don't want to, so I won't, because I'm the boss".

What eagle eyes you have Roo. That is a Curious George lunchbox. Would Paddy like it to take his lunch to school?

More on swimming in my blog later today...

I think what's important about this post really is the messy desk. . . .it makes me feel so much better that someone else has piles just like mine and rather than cleaning them is instead worrying about training. . . -Jen

Which is the lesser of the two evils: cleaning my desk or swimming laps? I guess it's good that I'm a slob. :)
