U of M

It is official.  Bill has decided to attend the University of Minnesota Law School. I am so proud of him. Yeah! Go Bill! And Go Gophers!

This is what attending Minnesota Law School will mean for us:

1) A very good education at a low cost.

2) Bill will have to study all the time.

3) We will have to endure at least 3 more Minnesota winters (it is snowing outside by the way).

4) We are going to ride our bikes across the United States before he starts school in the Fall.

Did you catch that last one? We just started planning our trip and we are so excited! Starting in Oregon and ending somewhere on the East Coast.

Congratulations! Law school is a heck of a ride--not quite like the ride across the U.S. that you will take, but a ride nonetheless.

I was married when I went through law school. While the rigorous schedule was tough on me, it was equally as tough on my then-husband (rest assured that law school had nothing to do with our split!). Stephanie, I understand you are quite the handy girl with the bikes, but there are some challenges that come with a legal education (or hazing) that will give you, the wife, cause for pause.

The good news is that the first year is by far the most difficult. After that, I won't say it's a piece of cake, but it's a good plate of fresh broccoli and juicy chicken. Just know that during that first year, he will be in the throes of learning to think like a lawyer. If you ask him a simple question--do you want coffee?--he may tell you, "It depends." This will pass.

The better news is that the law degree is well worth the trouble and expense. No matter what field Bill chooses, he will find it incredibly interesting and challenging--and you both seem to crave challenges!

Best of luck to you both!

Congrats to Bill! I hope we get to hear how your ride across America goes. How exciting.
